In 1933, little Mariette Beco saw eight apparitions of the Virgin Mary. The Blessed Virgin told her that she had come to relieve suffering and unite nations. She also donated a spring with miraculous water, reputed to heal and cure ailments. Following this, she asked Mariette to build her a chapel. This was done. The chapel of Banneux Notre-Dame still welcomes many pilgrims today, who come to ask for help or thank the Blessed Virgin for her gifts.
