Round Saint Clare medal in 925 silver. The medal bears the inscription “Sainte Claire” in French, along with the saint’s profile. A former noblewoman who devoted her life to God, she was abbess at the Chapel of San Damiano in Assisi in 1214 and later founded the Order of the Poor Ladies, also known as the Poor Clares. Close to Saint Francis of Assisi, she helped spread the spirit of San Damiano throughout Europe. Her feast day is August 11. Saint Clare is the patron saint of divination, jewelers, household linens, gilders, gold, good weather, television, and telecommunications. She also presides over professions related to textiles: embroiderers, laundresses, bleachers, ironers... People pray to Saint Clare for protection from eye ailments or to alleviate, or even cure, eye-related problems.
