It is hand-painted on wood gilded with gold leaf. It is an ancient liturgical representation, rich in theological significance, ideal for prayer or as a spiritual gift bearing hope.

Our Lady of the Sign is one of the oldest Marian representations, originating from Byzantine iconography. It symbolizes the Incarnation: Mary, the figure of the Church, welcomes the Word made flesh within her. The Christ Child, within the circle of light, manifests the divine presence in the world. This icon is invoked for peace, protection, and the opening of the heart to the divine will. It is particularly venerated in the Slavic Orthodox tradition.
