This Orthodox icon depicts the Virgin of Tenderness, or Glykophilousa, one of the most moving figures in the Byzantine tradition. Mary tenderly embraces Baby Jesus, their faces pressed together in a gesture of pure maternal love. The gold-leafed background captures the light and sublimates this gentle scene. Made on wood, this icon invites contemplation, silent prayer or a meaningful gift.
