The crucifix of San Damiano, in Italy, was displayed in the chapel of San Damiano. It was in front of this cross that Saint Francis of Assisi felt challenged by Christ himself. He is said to have said to him: “Go and repair my house, which, as you can see, is falling into ruin! “That's why it's also known as the Cross of St. Francis. The crucifix is currently in the Basilica of St. Clare in Assisi.
