The waiting, the birth, the family, the gift, the forgiveness... but also the cradle, the stars, the shepherds, the wise men. The Christmas Spirit is an invitation from Pope Francis to be inspired by the journey of Jesus, the child of Bethlehem, and to let his heart open to others.
As the planet is once again devastated by war, misery and persecution, the Pope encourages men and women to let themselves be caressed by God's breath, which exhorts for peace, inspires the desire to change the world and provides the strength to do so. "You have the Christmas spirit when you decide to be reborn every day and let God enter your soul. You are the Christmas tree when you resist storms and life's trials. You are the Christmas bells when you call others to gather and be united. You are the light of Christmas when you illuminate the lives of others with kindness, patience, joy and generosity. You are the Christmas gifts when you are a true friend and brother to all humanity. You are the celebration of Christmas when you forgive even when you suffer. You are the Christmas meal when you satisfied the poor with bread and hope. You are on Christmas night when you humbly receive the Savior in the silence of the night.
