Maria Valtorta, an Italian Catholic mystic. She studied at the prestigious Bianconi College in Monza, where she received a classical education. Following an attack by a deviant youth who struck her with a crowbar, she suffered a spinal injury and became paralyzed from the waist down. This incident brought her deeply closer to the Catholic Christian faith, becoming a delegate of Catholic Action. She then joined the Third Order of the Servants of Mary and decided to write her autobiography. She was encouraged in this endeavor by Father Romualdo Maria Migliorini, her spiritual guide, and by a voice she continually heard, which she claimed was that of Jesus. Later, those of the saints joined this vision. The Holy Office never acknowledged her enormous work, condemning it and placing it on the Index of Forbidden Books.
