The Flood of the Century in Banat (Romania) - DVD
The melting snow in the Carpathian Mountains causes major flooding every year. Empress Maria Theresa had dams built about 250 years ago to drain the region and make it fertile. One of these dams could no longer withstand the water masses this time and flooded approximately 40,000 square kilometers of land. This included many farms and villages. After two months, it was a success, also with German help; from the villages to the return journey on the other side of the road. For two months, the villages and farms were only accessible by helicopter and boat.
I spent a few days in the flooded area and captured the remains of the disaster for you.
Hebert Grün, the Caritas leader in this region, kindly took me to the places where the floods had left their mark, as you will see in the film. Many thanks to him.
To date, I have already delivered several truckloads of tiles to this area. If you would like to contribute to the transport costs, I would be very grateful. May God reward you. The route to this region from Germany is approximately 1,200 km one way. -Your Leander Prinz
