925 Silver Saint Claude Medal

Saint Claude medal in 925 silver. The medal bears the inscriptions “St Claudio” and “OPN,” Ora Pro Nobis, meaning “pray for us.” He is a Christian saint, the former bishop of Besançon, in the Haut-Jura region of France. He is celebrated on June 6 by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. Saint Claude was recognized as a saint thanks to the miracle that occurred after his death: when his tomb was opened in the 12th century, his body was found incorrupt. The monastery where he was buried then became a place of pilgrimage, renowned for its miracles. Only his left forearm remains today; the rest of his relics were burned during the French Revolution. Saint Claude is the patron saint of woodturners.
