Miraculously operated on by Saint Charbel Makhlouf on the carotid arteries on the night of January 22, 1993, Nohad El-Chami was cured of hemiplegia. Since then, the scars on her neck reopen and bleed every 22nd of the month, defying any scientific explanation. Saint Charbel explained to her: "I operated on you with the power of God and I left these scars by His will, so that everyone can see them, especially those who have distanced themselves from God, the Church and the saints, so that they may return to the faith." In memory of the miracle, Saint Charbel asked Nohad to visit the hermitage of Annaya, in Lebanon, where he lived and is buried, every 22nd of the month to attend Mass. Since then, the celebration of the 22nd of the month in honor of Saint Charbel has spread throughout the world, becoming itself a miraculous event, a source of healings and conversions. People are also healed by the leaves of the oak of Nohad and by the oil that oozes from his painting of Saint Charbel.

Patrizia Cattaneo is an internationally renowned Italian speaker and author. She is especially known for her books and healing and deliverance sessions, and for spreading devotion to Saint Charbel in Italy, when the saint was still relatively unknown. Her works have been translated into many languages, testifying to the global impact of her work. Patrizia also had the honor of knowing personally Bishop Joseph Mahfouz, the Postulator of the canonization of Saint Charbel, and of collaborating with two Postulators of the canonizations of the Maronite saints. Recently, she has resumed writing on Saint Charbel to share recent discoveries and news concerning the Lebanese hermit, who continues to surprise and fascinate the world of faith and science.
