Padre Pio from Pietrelcina

Throughout the Church's journey through history, especially in times of trial, the Lord has called prophetic figures and spiritual guides. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina is one of these guides for our time. He was endowed with extraordinary gifts and charisms which contributed greatly to his worldwide charisma. He was allowed to carry the wounds of Jesus, and was like a man from another world to the hundreds of thousands who visited him in San Giovanni Rotondo. Many visitors to Padre Pio have admitted that thanks to this encounter their lives have been profoundly changed. On 16 June 2002 the stigmatised Capuchin was canonised by Pope John Paul II. Since then, the Church has been allowed to invoke him for graces. We too can all be sure that he will come to our aid in our needs.
