Saint Matthew writing beneath a luminous sky

On the left, the white-bearded saint in an orange mantle writes in a book on a wooden table. A fine yellow halo surrounds his head, while a winged angel leans above him. On the right, the white prayer stands against grey and pale clouds. The saint's name appears by the portrait. The image shows the French version; choose your language from the variants.

Asking for wisdom, truth and courage

The prayer to Saint Matthew asks for understanding and wisdom, then discernment to recognise what is true. It recalls God's commandments, courage and love, and concludes with a reference to Jesus Christ, the Father and the Holy Spirit. The card accompanies a personal practice of faith and meditation on knowing God.
